In May 2025, the Global Fund's Board convened its 53rd meeting in Geneva. The meeting discussed resource mobilization challenges being faced by the Global Fund amidst recent issues on the global health landscape.

SEA Constituency was represented by Prof. Dante Harbuwono (Board Member), Ms. Aishath Samiya (Alternate), Aqsha Nur (Focal Point), Dr. Jigmi Singay (SRCMF), Dr. Purna Samitha Ginige (Sri Lanka), Dr. Anupong Sujariyakul (Thailand), Ms. Zelia Fernandes (Timor Leste), and Mr. Abdul Hameed (technical expert).

Board approved the revised Terms of Reference for the Technical Review Panel (TRP), ensuring assessments align with regional needs. The Executive Director gave updates and reaffirmed the Global Fund’s role in both disease-specific and system-wide investments. The meeting also addressed risk management, with a focus on financial sustainability and country-level risk mitigation, and reviewed the Office of the Inspector General’s audit findings.

Importantly, the Board discussed mid-cycle grant adaptations where countries are being directed to make adjustments to current grant implementation.

South East Asia Constituency also held 9 bilateral meetings with key partners, donor constituencies and the Global Fund Secretariat.
