The Global Fund Secretariat and Board Leadership held a Board Retreat on 8-9 July 2024 in Geneva to discuss funding sustainability for combating HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria. Representatives from the South East Asia Constituency attended. Key discussions included strategies for the 8th GF Replenishment, sustainable action plans, and policy options. Ms. Aishath Samiya, Alternate Member, emphasized the need for caution in reducing funds for high disease burden countries, prioritizing impactful policies, integrating disease programs into primary healthcare, and supporting regional manufacturing capacity. Decisions on these issues will be finalized at the 52nd Board Meeting in November 2024.
